Real Tamale United will kick off the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season with a home game against Hearts of Oak on Friday at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
However, the home team will be starting the season without some key players: Stephen Badu Dankwa, Abdul Manaf Umar, Nurudeen Yussif Mohammed, Kwame Boakye, Roland Frimpong, Sadat Mohammed, and Mathew Abayase.
Additionally, forward Issah Kuka has returned to Hearts of Oak after completing a one-season loan deal at RTU last season.
The Phobians are also entering the new season without Robert Addo Sowah, Caleb Amankwah, Junior Kaaba, Yassan Oatching, and Gladson Awako.
Since Real Tamale United's return to the topflight league in the 2021/22 season, they have yet to lose a game against Hearts of Oak in four encounters, securing three wins and one draw.
RTU has recorded one victory and one draw at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, and they are still undefeated against Hearts of Oak at home.
Hearts of Oak have made notable additions to their squad, including center back Kelvin Osei Asibey from Eleven Wonders, and Kofi Agbesimah from Bechem United.
The former Premier League champions have further strengthened their roster with the acquisitions of Micheal Ampadu, Liventus Attur, Martin Karikari, and Rapheal Amponsah, as well as the appointment of new head coach Martinus Koopman.
Real Tamale United will rely on new signings such as Christan Gyan from Pride of the North, Faisal Dauda from Kintampo Top Talent, Mohammed Abuu from Wa Suntaa, and Abdul Aziz from Ebusua Dwarfs.
The game is set to be broadcast live on Startimes Adepa channel 247 on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 6 pm.
