Two hundred and fifty youth in the Bono Region have received vocational and technical skills training in a bid to make them employable.
The training initiative is under the SINAPI ABA Youth Entrepreneurship Apprenticeship (YEAP) Programme aimed at reducing employment in the area.
National Coordinator, Margret Owusu Asare says it’s the company’s contribution addressing socio-economic challenges in the country.
“Our intention is to help train our youth who have nothing to do and who are willing to go into apprenticeship training. So we are trying to help to get the youth get something to do in the form of earning income for themselves,” she said.
The project trains the youth in every type of vocation and technical skills except driving and barbering.

She explained that, “…for driving, because you have to go to the driving school we don’t teach it. We tell them that they should put all the things that we have taught them to practice”.
One of the beneficiaries who studied fashion design said she is learnt to be faithful to customers and trustworthy because she observed the major problem with tailors is unfaithfulness.
“I can assure every being faithful towards your work, I can assure everybody I have learnt to be trustworthy.”
Another acknowledged, “SINAPI ABA has been so good to us and so we thank them for everything”.

The National Vocational and Technical Institute (NVTI) is encouraging Ghanaians to show a keen interest in made-in-Ghana products.
Bono Ahafo Regional Co-ordinator, Francis Dakorah, particularly wants government to intensify public education on the issue.
“Ghanaian products can be as quality as anything seen anywhere in the world.
My advice to the public is that whatever is produced in Ghana, though might not have possessed the highest of quality.
He continued that, “But why don’t we try our own and see the good in us and after all if something is not good, you must try it and criticize it and with that we will very soon reach where we want to reach”, he said.
Krontihene of Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Bofotia Boamponsem urged government to rebrand produced in Ghana to attract foreigners as well as Ghanaians living abroad.
