The Central Regional Police Command has arrested three persons for defiling a 10-year-old girl at Abura Edumfa in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District.
The suspects, John Amoah, 28; Frederick Nyarko, 42 and John Ofori, 45, have been remanded into prison custody and are expected to appear before the Court on April 21, 2022.
On Thursday, March 31, the class three pupil was sent by one of the suspects to buy some stuff for him.
Upon return, the suspect asked her to drop the items in the room, after which she was defiled and sodomised by the four men.
According to the victim, the suspects threatened to kill her if she disclosed her ordeal to anyone else.
The victim, out of fear kept the act to herself until she started bleeding profusely from her vagina.
After persistent questioning by her parents, she opened up about the defilement and sodomy she was subjected to.
Police in Abura Dunkwa subsequently arrested three of the four suspects, who are currently in prison custody.
The Regional Police Public Affairs Unit issued a statement on Saturday that said efforts are underway to arrest the fourth person to assist with investigations.
“The Police Command is appealing to the general public that anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of the fourth suspect, Kojo, should go to the nearest Police station and assist with investigations or call Toll Free number 18555.
“The Command is assuring the general public that it will continue to protect life and property by enforcing the law,” the statement added.
In an earlier interview with the media, the distraught mother of the victim, Ekua Grace, said the girl, who cannot walk properly, is experiencing severe vaginal pains.
She added that her daughter cannot sit for a long time and can’t wear panties because blood keeps oozing from her vagina and anus.
She has, therefore, called on the Police to prosecute the suspects and arrest the remaining suspect for justice to be served to her daughter.
