A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded a 40-year-old mason into prison custody for defiling a nine-year-old girl.
Emmanuel Ocloo, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear on May 4.
Police chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court, presided over by R.M. Kogyapwah that Ocloo, and the victim’s mother, who is a trader, lives in the same vicinity at Ahinsan in Kumasi.
She said on March 18, this year, the accused gave the victim’s mother money to get him some foodstuffs.
The prosecution said the mother after buying the foodstuffs at the market, sent the victim and her younger sister to send them to the accused in the house.
Ocloo then sent the victim to buy a coca-cola drink for her younger sister and asked her to take the drink outside. He then invited the victim to his room and forcibly had sex with her.
The prosecution said after the act, the accused warned her not to tell anybody about it but later the victim fell sick and told her mother about the ordeal and the case was reported to the Asokwa police.
A medical report confirmed the defilement and Ocloo was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
