The Mastercard Foundation e-learning Initiative in partnership with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is training lecturers in content creation on online teaching and learning.
The training will focus on equipping faculty members with the requisite skills to provide quality education through e-learning technologies.
Director of the e-learning Centre at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof. Eric Appau Asante expressed that the training will equip faculty members with skills to provide quality education through E-Learning technologies.
“With the advent of covid, we had no option than to teach online. Contents had to be uploaded online, instructions had to be done online. But the challenge is how most people are doing well online.
“We need to be mindful of the quality content we put online in the name of online teaching and learning. So, the target of the training was to ensure we have the requisite skills to upload quality content.” he said.
The masterclass organized by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) started as part of the efforts of the university to increase digital teaching and learning.
This year’s masterclass has seen the attendance of affiliate universities, nursing colleges and education colleges.
Vice-chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson commended the e-learning team for extending the training to participants from the Obuasi campus and other KNUST affiliate institutions..
“I am pleased to highlight the efforts of E-learning centre which has organized and continue to run series of training section for both faculty and student in the use of the learning management system before and during each semester.
“This individual invaluable training opportunity are also extended to the Obuasi campus of KNUST,” she said.
This training is for the third and fourth cohorts which include 85 participants with 49 from sister institutions and affiliate institutions
The training is scheduled to continue for the next seven weeks.
