The Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has disclosed that 50 major road projects are currently under construction across the country under the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme.
Mr Lukutor made the revelation while contributing to the debate on the 2026 State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Wednesday, 4th March 2026.
According to the legislator, the ongoing projects cover a total stretch of about 1,144 kilometres of roads nationwide.
He explained that the projects form part of the government’s Big Push agenda aimed at accelerating critical infrastructure development and improving road connectivity across the country.
"We have so much to offer, and I can dare say that work has begun on 50 major projects covering a total of 1,144 kilometres, that is the Big Push projects."
The MP further disclosed that, "About GH¢9.8 billion has been paid to contractors to return to their sites."
He expressed optimism that the projects, once completed, will significantly improve mobility, reduce travel time and promote socio-economic development across the country. "What NPP knows is to cut ribbon, but we are cutting travel times."
