Over 5,000 flash-points have been identified by the 2016 National Elections and Security Task-force.
According to the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, they are putting measures in place to ensure that the flashpoints do not pose any risk going into election 2016.
Superintendent Cephas Arthur who made the revelation after a simulation exercise on how to fight crime during the 2016 elections added that they are aware of heightened tension before, during and after the polls but they are hopeful that people will comport themselves.
He said flashpoints are areas notorious for acts of violence.
"Usually such places record violence, acts of vandalism, disturbances of public peace as a result of elections and other social activities. These are the places we have tagged as flashpoints.
"We have identified 5000 places across the country. It calls for concern. We won't say it is a worrying situation. It calls for focusing of attention," he stated.
Ghana is heading into the 2016 elections in December 2016 with fears of possible violence. There have been a number of peace campaigns in order to foster peace and unity in the country before, during and after the elections.
