The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Abu Kabienbata Kansangabata has stated that government alone cannot provide the needed services to the good people of the country hence the need for non-profit organizations and business community to partner with the government to make life comfortable for the citizenry.
Speaking at the opening of 52nd annual synod of the northern Ghana diocese of the Methodist church, Rev. Paul Adu expressed the government's commitment to partner the church and other faith in all spheres of the country's development.
Mr. Kansangabata lauded the Methodist Church for their contribution in all spheres of education and health, saying it cannot be over emphasized.
He said the church in its wisdom many years ago established the Wa school for the blind to give education to one of the most vulnerable groups in our society.
‘‘This school has trained many people, [who] otherwise would have been destitute on our streets.
He said such persons have been turned in to skillful artisans, teachers and other social workers.
"Indeed our current minister for chieftaincy traditional affairs, Dr. Henry Seidu Danaah is a proud product of this school,’’ he added.
He urged the church to continue in that direction and provide quality education at all levels of the educational ladder.
The Bishop of the Northern Ghana Diocese, Rt. Rev. Emanuel Mclord Afriyie speaking on the theme of the synod ‘‘The Prayer Factor in Witnessing Christ Today’’ emphasized the importance of prayer in the life of the Christian.
‘‘Through fervent passionate and spirit-backed prayers, the holy spirit’s full power and influence will be released in our lives. We then can wield our delegated authority or power of attorney in the world, and God’s purpose for his church will be accomplished, while Satan’s schemes and evil strategies are frustrated and thwarted.’’
Rt. Rev. Afriyie posited that failing to pray means that you have no business thinking and talking about witnessing to Christ today.
