Eight people have been left injured in a chieftaincy dispute in Suhyen in the New Juabeng Municipality of the Eastern Region, Monday.
The violence follows a visit by the Vice president Kwasi Amissah-Arthur to the region.
According to Joy News' Eastern Region correspondent Kofi Siaw, one of the factions, Nana Frimpong Manso was meeting with his elders to update them on discussions he had with the vice president during the National Sanitation Day.
Members of the other faction-Nana Sarpong- were said to have invaded the meeting, hurled stones and traded blows in a free-for-all fight with the Nana Frimpong Manso faction.
Eight people, including a child were injured in the process and were rushed to the hospital.
Kofi Siaw said the child had blood all over his face whilst another person was hit by a stone.
It is not clear yet what triggered the conflict even though some of the factions claim the decision by the vice president to meet with one of the factions is believed to have played a role.
The police were said to have separated the warring factions but failed to make any arrest.
They left the scene shortly after calm was returned with the excuse that they had other duties to take care of.
