The Nima Police have arrested a twenty eight year old man for stealing cars and forging the documents of the cars for collateral.
Frank Nyankotey who claims to be a car rental dealer is said to have stolen about 18 cars from several car rental companies.
Nine of the 18 cars stolen so far have been retrieved by the police.
Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Command, DSP Freeman Tettey told Joy News his accomplices are agents at the DVLA who are popularly referred to as goro boys.
He said when the suspect rents the vehicles he, in connivance with the agents at DVLA changes the ownership of the vehicles into his name.
DSP Tettey said the suspect used the strategy to criminally own about 18 cars and used some of the car documents as collateral for loans.
The suspect has been charged with stealing, defrauding as well forgery of documents.
He said there has already been a deferred sentence by the courts already and it will take effect on February 21, 2013.
