A 51-year-old labourer met his untimely death Saturday when a coconut tree he was trying to chop down crashed on him.
Anoba Amo Ezurande was reportedly hired to cut down the tree on a plantation at Takinta junction, a farming community in the Jomoro District of the Western Region.
While felling the tree, Anoba reportedly stopped halfway and sat under it to sharpen his mattock. The coconut tree then came crushing on him.
The District police commander, Superintendent John Dzineku, told Joy News that no foul play is suspected.
The body has been deposited at the Half Assini Government Hospital morgue.
