Mr Otuo Acheampong, Managing Director Ghana Post on Thursday expressed surprise at the number of people that rushed to the office, early Monday morning to purchase forms for enlistment in the Ghana National Fire Service.
“We witnessed a massive crowd gathered at our premises for the purchasing of the Service’s forms as compared to previous years,” he said.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), in an interview on Thursday, in Accra, Mr Acheampong said within two days, 6,500 of the forms sold at GH¢20.00 each, had run out.
“Even though forms were not available in Accra at the moment, people still troop in every now and then with the purpose of acquiring a form”, he said.
Mr Acheampong noted that due to the high unemployment rate in the country, people tend to jump at any opportunity to acquire employment, thus the rush for the forms.
Some applicants, the GNA spoke to noted that although they had been informed that the forms were finished, they were sure by the end of the day new ones would arrive.
“We have been told by the workers that the forms were finished but we would not go, because we are sure we would get some before the day ends”.
