Minister-designate for Roads and Highways Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani says no one should expect to win a contract from his ministry based on their political affiliations.
Under his tenure, he declared, contracts will only be awarded on the basis of competence.
Alhaji Sulemani made this statement when answering questions before the Appointments Committee of Parliament Friday.
He explained that the Procurement Act expressly states what processes must be followed when awarding contracts and his ministry will strictly follow those.
"Contracts are not shared like groundnuts," insisted the Minister-designate, and anyone who wins a contract from the Roads & Highways Ministry will "win on merits."
