The Ghana Medical Association has given a two week ultimatum to government to resolve their grievances on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) or they will embark on a strike.President of the Association Adusei Poku confirmed the ultimatum in an interview with Joy News on Friday.According to him, the Association has attended series of meetings with the hope their grievance will be resolved but all to no avail. He said if by the 4th of February if their grievances are not resolved they will not call any meeting. They will just lay down their tools.Explaining the reason for their ultimatum, Adusei Poku said the implementation of the SSSS has been fraught with several challenges including salary deductions but all attempts to resolve it have been futile.Asked why the Association is not giving the new government breathing space to settle down and resolve their grievances, Mr Poku retorted this government has been in place for over four years; the National Labour Commission has been around as well and all other stakeholders have been around for several years. He said their problems have been persisting for over a year and the time to resolve it is now.
