Fire has destroyed about 350 acres of rice farms belonging to some 40 farmers in the Savelugu Nantong district of the Northern Region.
The fire, which blazed continuously for two days, also run through three communities in the district destroying properties there.
Joy News’ Northern Regional Correspondent, Martina Bugri reported that the waterlogged area serves as farms for several groups and individuals.
According to her, a combine harvester which was harvesting might have started the fire.
“The farmers are saying some of them could commit suicide because every single investment [into their farm] is gone. They have nothing left and they don’t know how to survive,” she reported.
