Satellites Management Committee Chair George Afriyie remains unruffled at the level of criticism against his charges after the sides opening day loss to the French U-20 side. The Satellites received a battering on Matchday 1 from Paul Pogba and his mates and this has led to widespread criticism of the entire set up. Chairman Afriyie shares the sentiments of Ghanaians per the result against France but is unhappy about the unfair castigation against the entire squad. “We lost to a very good and strong side and I would be the first to hold my hands up and congratulate the French for that performance but it is unfair for a cross section of the fans and media to embark on such a vitriolic and smear campaign against the team. It does not help anyone. We came here to do our very best and more for the nation and if things don’t go well after matchday 1, it is only fair that we quickly put that behind us, work very hard and prepare for the Spain game and hopefully get a result. No one is home and dry in our group yet and I have the confidence in my boys to turn things around. The French clearly exploited their numerical backroom staff to their advantage going into the second half but trust me, we will make the nation proud on Monday.” Ghana take on the Baby Rojas of Spain on Monday in a must win game if they intend on making it far in the competition.
