Former Liberty Professionals left-full-back Ghandy Kassenu has finalized a 6-month transfer deal with Sudanese premier league giants Al Merrikh SC.
The 23-year-old was part of the Black Satellites’ squad that won the FIFA U-20 world cup in 2009. His contract with Liberty Professionals expired at the end of the just ended Ghana premier league season.
Al Merrikh who are based in Omdurman have won the Sudanese premier league 18 times, been to the CAF champions league and Confederations Cup seven times and have made 12 appearances at the African Cup of champions clubs.
Ghandy Kassenu was instrumental for the Scientific Soccer Lads and believes his move to the Sudanese side is positive for his career.
He hopes to improve in order to catch the eye of the senior national team handlers and tells JOY Sports “it’s a good move and a stepping stone for me. It presents me with an opportunity once again to play in a different country and learn new things. Al Merrikh is a very big club, they play in the CAF Champions league as well as the Confederations Cup. I will get to play in the highest level in Africa and that will give me a lot of experience and exposure and with that, I hope I can be a good material for the Black Stars some day.”
