Brazil midfielder Paulinho has confirmed he has agreed a deal to join Tottenham from Corinthians.
Paulinho has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent weeks and following Brazil’s Confederations Cup final the 24-year-old told reporters that he had agreed a deal with Tottenham.
Corinthians have confirmed that the clubs have agreed a €20million fee for the player with the deal set to be finalised in the coming weeks.
“The other interest we got was of Inter Milan, but the only offer came from Tottenham,” he told a press conference on Monday.
“The proposal came, we sat down, analysed it and decided. It was a big decision to go to a big club. There comes a certain point when you need new challenges.”
“It’s hard to say anything at a moment like this, but I am sure those were three wonderful years in my career, with many titles and working with the right people, who always helped me
“What I have to say to Corinthians is ‘see you soon’. Pretty soon I’ll be back, owing to everything you have done for me.
“My individual titles are all thanks to the club, Corinthians will be in my heart for the rest of my life.”
Paulinho helped Corinthians win the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2011 and both the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup last year.
