The Black Satellites have touched down in Istanbul, the setting of their first two games against France and Spain for their quarter clash against Chile. The two teams advanced to this stage of the competition after defeating Portugal and Croatia respectively their Round of 16 games played on Wednesday.
The Satellites are brimming with confidence after a disastrous start to the competition where they lost their opening two games against the French and the Spaniards at Galatasaray’s Turk Telekom Arena.
Two phenomenal performances against the United States and Portugal coupled with some element of luck and divine intervention if you like have got the side back on course and with a strong chance of making it all the way incidentally under the same manager in 2009.
The Satellites cored two late goals in quick succession in a drama filled encounter at the Kadir Has Stadium to edge out the Portuguese by 3-2 with star striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom on target for the all important winning goal.
By this phenomenal achievement, Ghana in all 6 participations at FIFA U-20 World Cup have reached at least the quarterfinals.
Chile on the other hand also advanced to this stage of the competition at the expense of another European side I Croatia who they defeated by 2-0 in their Round of 16 clash in Bursa.
There is a white moon flying over the heads of the Satellites Camp at the moment and with confidence restored after those back to back wins against the United States and Portugal, the Chileans will be the first to admit that it might just not be a good time to play the Satellites never mind the sides inability to achieve results at the Turk Telekom Arena in their first two games. Times have changed indeed.
The 4th and final quarter final clash is scheduled for Sunday at 18:00 GMT with the winner coming up against either France or Uzbekistan in the Semi-Finals.
