The Citizens Awake Forum (CAF) wishes to bring to the notice of the government the deplorable state of the Kaneshie Foot Bridge.
Kaneshie is popularly known for its market activities and also links Ghanaians to the other regions in the country: making it a preferred place to many Ghanaians for transacting business.
It is rather unfortunate that the foot bridge which serves as the pathway for the ordinary Citizen - be it traders or commuters - seems to be abandoned by the Authorities notwithstanding its consequential effect.
The foot bridge for the past 10 years had not seen any major renovation works or whatsoever.
Not quite long ago, some members of CAF used the bridge and it was just unbelievable. The metals have rusted and the cracks in the Bridge are so deep that if the Authorities pay a deaf ear to the cry of CAF, the country will be mourning bitterly one day. Though we do not wish for that, the state of the bridge portrays danger.
An avoidable danger looms at Kaneshie.
The government should not wait till the unexpected happens. Indeed the government stands supreme in matters which bother on the welfare of the ordinary citizens.
Citizens’ Awake forum (CAF) is appealing to the government to move rapidly to avert the looming danger. We also wish to remind the government that the country flourishes on the frontiers of revenues from traders.
As Ghanaians, CAF pledges to spare neither strength nor effort to ensure the renovation of the Kaneshie Foot Bridge.
Long live Ghana!
Signed!
Kojo Smith, convener of CAF
