Displaced residents of Obom-Kojontor will soon have a permanent place of residence following the acquisition of a parcel of land for them by the Ga South Municipal Assembly.
Multi TV's Yaa Fosuah Gyamfi reports that the residents have already started clearing the two-acre land for resettlement.
Although the land is not big enough to contain the over 500 residents, they are happy for the assistance.
Some residents who spoke to Joy News said they have been promised that a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) would soon be assisting them to put up buildings on the land.
The residents, including women and children, were forced to leave the land on which they had put up their homes, after a private developer secured a court order to demolish structures on the said land.
After the displacement, they were sleeping in the classrooms of the Obom M.A School till the authorities started locking up the place.
The situation forced pupils of the school to stay home for over a month.
