Preliminary reports from a clinical examination conducted on parents who kept their children indoors for eight years, have confirmed they are suffering from schizophrenic-paranoia.
Chief Psychiatrist Dr. Akwesi Osei had said earlier the parents could be suffering from the psychological disorder.
"The diagnostic impression [for the parents] states that [there is] possible underlying paranoid thinking with depression conditions", revealed ASP Christine Srofenyo, Madina DOVVSU Commander to Joy News' Beatrice Adu.
ASP Srofenyo told Joy News the report also recommended further psychological examination for the couple.
The three kids, aged eight, six and four, were rescued by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service at Madina, a suburb of Accra, last Friday under serious insanitary conditions.
The kids, two girls and a boy - who is the oldest - have also been denied formal education.
The Madina DOVVSU has already declared its intention of jailing the parents if reports of a psychological examination prove that they are mentally stable.
