Residents of Suhum in the Eastern Region are shocked by the action of a trader and farmer, who cut off two limbs of two goats as punishment for destroying her farm produce.
The woman, Maa Fio, cruelly severed the fore and hind limbs each of the two animals and left them to die.
She had previously laid ambush for the goats after they allegedly destroyed her farm produce repeatedly for several weeks.
Eyewitness account showed the goats were found bleating for help and it was reported to their owner, one Emmanuel Akakpo who later confronted Maa Fio before reporting her to the Suhum Police.
Regional Police Commander, Superintendent Anane Appiah confirmed the incident to Adom News explaining that Maa Fio admitted to committing the act, but defended it saying that, the goats had been destroying her produce and causing her losses.
The police said the goats died from excessive bleeding soon after the report was filed at the police station. They have since been buried.
The police also disclosed that Maa Fio, the suspect has been charged and arraigned before the Suhum Magistrate Court and granted bail.
Onwer of the goats, Akakpo expressed shock over Maa Fio’s action, describing it as wickedness.
Akakpo said they expected Maa Fio to have warned them instead of slaughtering the goats in such a cruel manner.
