The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Alhassan has called on chiefs to join hands with the Police to advocate for peace before and after the ruling on the ongoing 2012 Presidential election petition. "If we [the Police] do not seek the partnership of other stakeholders, it would be difficult for us to carry out our Constitutional mandate," the IGP said at a meeting with members of the National House of Chiefs. The meeting formed part of efforts by the police Chief to discuss peace ahead of the Supreme Court ruling on the petition. President of the National House of chiefs Naa Prof. John Nabilla promised members of the National House of Chiefs will extend the peace message to their subjects across the country. Naa Prof John Nabilla lauded the IGP for consulting with them saying, "you cannot really have peace in any place if you don't involve the people and the traditional leaders".
