AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi Mine) on Thursday donated a number of items worth over GH¢3,500 towards the celebration of this year's farmer's day in three districts of the Ashanti region.

The districts, which received the items, were Obuasi municipal, Amansie Central and Adansi North.
Mr Y.B Amponsah, a Manager at AngloGold, who presented the items, said the company, since the inception of the farmer's day, had identified itself with the laudable idea to encourage farmers to promote agriculture in the country.
He said AngloGold Ashanti recognises the role agriculture plays in the development of the country's economy, and that, the company was committed in assisting to boost agriculture.
He was hopeful that the items would go a long way in helping the assemblies to honour the award winners.
Mr E.K Antwi, Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and Chairman of the planning committee was grateful to the company for their assistance to the assembly.
He gave the assurance that the items would be given to the beneficiary farmers.
