Airtel Ghana has rewarded the first batch of winners in the ongoing Supa Star promotion. The top weekly prize of GHC5,000 was won by Lucy Fergeson, an Adenta-based spare parts dealer, with Juliet Osamalah winning GHC2,500 for placing second in the weekly draw. Over a thousand other Airtel customers won shopping vouchers, airtime, and Samsung mobile phones in the weekly draw.
Marketing Director of Airtel Ghana, Ashish Malhotra who presented the dummy cheque to Mrs. Fergeson said Airtel is committed to rewarding its customers through the Supa Star promotion.
“With Supa Star every Airtel user stands a chance of winning and we are thrilled that we have once again kept our word”, he said. Mr. Malhotra added that Airtel has put in place measures to ensure that the draws are clean and fair and adheres to best practice in the business. “Ernst & Young (EY) are doing a great job and as we know their global reputation in auditing is one that cannot be debated”.
Mrs. Fergeson, a widow, said she would use the money to complete a building project her late husband started. “Until I got here this morning I didn’t believe that I had won the first prize. I couldn’t believe it when I was told. I am very surprised. I now believe in the promotions that Airtel runs because I am a true witness”, she said.
Youth and Mass Manager at Airtel Ghana, Dennis Awuah Duah, said all Airtel customers have to do is to spend at least 50 pesewas a day or to recharge with GHC2 and above to gain points after which they are entered into a draw weekly.
There would be 9 weekly draws and three monthly draws with a BMW car available each month to be won. “The more you enter, the better your chances of winning in the promo because an increase in your number of points means a higher probability of your number being randomly drawn. As we have seen in the two draws so far, it is a very open process”, he said.
The second draw of the Supa Star promotion took place last week Thursday. Winners would be presented with their prizes on Tuesday when the third draw takes place.
