Volta Regional Education Directorate has assured teachers in the Krachi district of their safety when they go to the classrooms next month when schools in the district re-open.
The teachers had threatened to boycott classes when academic work begins following the mysterious death of three of their colleagues in the town. They said their lives were in danger.
But Volta Regional Education Director, Emmanuel Koku Keteku, told Joy News they are working with security agencies to ensure the safety of the teachers.
Mr Keteku made the remarks after a meeting with the Volta Regional branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the Police and Chiefs of the area.
He said "we have circulated [telephone] lines that they [teachers] should call when there is any threat on their lives."
The Volta Regional Education Director also said they are meeting with community leaders to support the Police to ensure that the teachers work in a conducive environment.
