Antrak Air has secured a new aircraft to replace its EC-KUL aircraft that developed a fault mid-air last Friday.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), on Wednesday inspected and approved for Antrak an ATR 72-500 aircraft with registration number EC-LYJ which arrived at the Kotoka International Airport from Spain.
The 68-seater aircraft, is currently registered by the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority and until this week was being operated by Swiftair for internal flights in Spain.
Antrak will resume full schedule operation from Thursday, August 22, 2013.
Passengers aboard an Antrak Air flight from Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana to the capital Accra on Friday escaped death when the pilot navigated a faulty airplane to safe-landing in Tamale.
One of the engines of the airplane caught fire, mid-air, and caused one of the fans of the plane to stop functioning.
The pilot quickly returned to Tamale and managed to land safely.
