The Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) is calling for reforms in the country’s land tenure system.
According to GREDA, the country’s land tenure system which gives absolute ownership to traditional land authorities when reviewed would help bring down the cost of housing.
Most land developers who share in this view explain the system impedes the acquisition of parcels of land for both residential and commercial projects.
Second vice president of GREDA, Patrick Ebo Bonfo noted that the current situation needs urgent reforms to facilitate the country’s socio-economic development.
He also bemoaned the increasing cost of building materials in the country–a situation he says is crippling the real estate business.
Patrick Ebo Bonfo called on government to intervene in the real estate sector in Ghana.
