The Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ)has asked the Chief Executive and Board Chairman of the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), to respond within 10 days to findings in its preliminary investigations.
CHRAJ has since April 2013 been investigating alleged misappropriation of funds in the guinea fowl and afforestation projects of SADA.
In March this year, Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alex Afenyo-Markin, on the floor of Parliament, questioned how Gh¢15 million was spent on a guinea fowl project while over Gh¢32 million was expended on another afforestation project.
But declining to disclose the findings, Deputy Commissioner of CHRAJ in charge of investigations and legal, Joseph Whittal, said it would "not be fair [to name the allegations] because we have to hear from them".
He said on the basis of what Alhaji Gilbert Iddi, the Chief Executive and Alhassan Andani, the Board Chairman have to say, and "on the basis of both what they have said and what we [CHRAJ] have...we can make that [findings] known."
Mr Joseph Whittal noted that it is part of the constitution of CHRAJ to request comments from heads of institutions during their preliminary investigations before proceeding further.
