The National Peace Council is optimistic the composite judgement by the nine Supreme Court judges who heard the 2012 Presidential election petition would propose useful electoral reforms. Some groups and individuals, including former United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan, have called for reforms to improve the electoral process. But Chairman of the Peace Council, Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante, believes the the judgement will lead the way for reforms. "Because I am sure that the judgement itself will bring out a number of issues that might form the agenda for any talk of reforms", said Rev Prof Asante. He declined from stating the position of the Council on electoral reforms, noting that although the call for reform was appropriate, a close scrutiny of the judgement was important. He was speaking at the Press Centre in Accra on Tuesday September, 2013.
