President John Mahama leaves Accra Monday for a two-day state visit to Benin at the invitation of President Boni Yayi.
Mr. Mahama is expected back on Tuesday September 10, 2013.
The two leaders have, over the last one year, strengthened the existing relationship between their two countries.
The invitation by President Dr. Yayi is to enable the two discuss various issues including the security situation on the continent, economic integration of the West African sub-region and how to give a new impetus to their bilateral cooperation.
In a letter dated September 03, 2013 inviting his brother, Mr. John Mahama for a state visit, the Beninios President congratulated him for "the confirmation of your brilliant victory by the Supreme Court as President of your beautiful and great country."
While on his way to Cotonou, Benin, President Mahama will make a stop over in Lome, Togo to confer with President Faure Gnassigbe.
