Police have confirmed the death of two people in a highway accident on the Nkawkaw by-pass stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Road.
Describing the accident as "very fatal", an eyewitness earlier told Joy News he saw dead bodies strewed the ground.
He suspected that the vehicle, Mercedes Benz Splinter, burst a tyre and somersaulted.
The car with registration number AW 159-13 was completely damaged, he said.
Meanwhile, Eastern Regional MTTU Commander, Chief Inspector Samuel Tetteh told Joy News the accident occurred around 4:00pm today.
The vehicle burst the rear tyre and ended up in a ditch, he confirmed.
He said a boy, 14, and a woman, 40, died in the accident. Twenty six (26) passengers were onboard the vehicle.
The bodies of the two have been deposited at the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawnkaw.
