The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is disgusted by allegations that he led the process to bribe some supreme Court justices to influence the outcome of the election petition.In a strongly-worded statement, the Asantehene described the claim as "insulting" and "reprehensible".The allegation, which was in a form of an article published in the New Free Press newspaper was the subject of newspaper review discussion on Kessben FM, a Kumasi-based radio station on Monday 9 September 2013.Acting behalf of the Asantehene, 15 sub-chiefs signed and issued a statement threatening to take action aganst those perpetrating the rumour.Read below the full statement issued by the chiefs."The attention of Manhyia Palace has been drawn to a publication in the New Free Press on 4th September, 2013 which was aired on Kessben F.M. Radio as part of its morning Newspaper Review on Monday 9th September, 2013 ."In the said article it was stated that some Justices of the Supreme Court were bribed to give Judgement in favour of the 1st Responsdent, John Dramani Mahama."The article further intimated that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, was the conduit through whom the bribery negotiation was effected.
Manhyia Palace is disgusted by the writer's false and malicious allegation of the Asantehene's complicity in the whole article and the subsequent comments thereof from individuals which can best be described as reprehensible and insulting."The Palace wishes to inform all that an appropriate response will be given in due course. Thank you."
