Government is optimistic the ban on exports of raw and processed tuna from Ghana to the European Union would be lifted soon.
Some countries in Europe in March this year placed a ban on Tuna from Ghana, citing lack of adequate supervision to check illegal and unregulated fishing of tuna in its waters.
The situation has caused some Tuna processing firms to lay off some of their workers, while the country is also said to be losing about 10 million Euros every month.
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Nii Lamptey Vanderpuije tells Joy Business government has come far in addressing all the concerns raised by the EU.
"As a government we are working seriously on it, we are extremely doing that, and I am very sure those are some of the issues our Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Finance will taking a look at as they go out of the country positively next week."
Meanwhile, Joy Business has gathered that a committee formed to investigate the issue cited Ghana for serious breaches on catching of Tuna in the international waters.
It has therefore been advised to install a tracking device on all these vessel to help address the situation.
Sources say the implementation might see the ban been lifted possibly by next month.
