The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has received a presentation of 220 cases of assorted products worth GHC 6,500 from Accra Brewery Limited towards the 29th National Farmers’ Day celebration.
The event which is slated for Friday December 6, 2013 at Sogakope in the Volta Region is under the theme “ Managing Post Harvest Losses”.
The package which is a sign of appreciation to Ghanaian farmers for their significant contributions towards the growth of Accra Brewery and the nation’s economy, constituted 20 cases each of eleven brands of the company namely Eagle Lager, Club Premium Lager, Castle Milk Stout, Stone Strong Lager, Chairman Malt Liquor, Club Shandy, Castle Milk Malt, Club Cola, Club Muscatella, Club Orange, Club Quinine Tonic and Club Soda.
Ms. Adjoba Kyiamah, Corporate and Legal Affairs Director of Accra Brewery Limited during the presentation to MoFA said, “We take a lot of pride in the use of locally grown raw materials in the production of some of our brands and at the beginning of this year, we launched a new beer, Eagle Lager, made from 70% cassava.”.
She stated that the cassava is purchased directly from farmers in the Eastern and Volta Regions through their partners, DADTCO Cassava Processing Ghana Limited. She explained that they are currently processing cassava in Ve-Golokwati and its environs in the Volta Region.
She revealed that together with Club Premium Lager and Chibuku Shake Shake, Eagle Lager brings to three the number of ABL brands that use local raw materials.
“Our annual donation towards the celebration of the National Farmers’ Day is driven by our immense appreciation of our country’s hardworking farmers and Accra Brewery Limited will continue to support the occasion that celebrates the achievement of our farmers into the future,” she said.
During the presentation, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in charge of Crops Amed Alhassan Yakubu said “It is heart-warming to see organizations that use farmer’s products show appreciation and commitment to them. We want to assure you that the donation will be used for the intended purpose We thank you so much and we do recognize your donation. The National Farmers’ Day celebration will not be successful without your donations.”
This is the 29th consecutive time that Accra Brewery Ltd has donated to Farmers’ Day celebrations.
