The Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Mr P.V Obeng is pushing for more investments in the telecoms sector to improve service quality.
Years after the opening of the telecoms market to more operators, the consumer is still having problems with getting good service from operators.
Speaking at the opening of an International Telecoms Union (ITU) conference here in Accra on Tuesday, Mr. Obeng said technology can only be relevant to Ghanaians if it improves their livelihood.
Ïf we have to run fast to catch up with those who are already running then of course we must seek and find that valued item which will enable us to change the dynamics of African’s input which are constrained by the challenges on our meager resources.”
He charged the country not to “sleep behind”, but join the global community in prosecuting the ICT revolution.
Mr Obeng said having realized the vision created for Africa in the area of ICT, “we should find every means available to intensify our strategies to ensure that we overcome that technology gap” between the developed and developing countries.
