The Young Professional Network, a professional group sympathetic to the governing New Patriotic Party, has established its first diasporan branch in Vancouver, Canada.
This forms part of efforts to mobilise various professionals in different fields to support the activities of the governing party.
During the maiden meeting in Canada on Sunday, July 14, the President of the Group, Mr Stephen Asiedu, expressed joy for the initiative as this will further increase the professional base of the party.
According to him, the move was also to enable collaborations in order to organise periodic exchange programes where they can leverage on the individual capacities for the benefit of the party in particular and Ghana in general.
Present at the meeting were the Director of Political Affairs at the Office of the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Frank Asiedu and the Deputy Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Dr. Nadia Adongo Musah.
Mr. Frank Asiedu Bekoe used the occasion to reiterate Ghana's achievement of a stable power supply, single-digit inflation and the appointment of Ghana to host the Continental Free Trade Area secretariat amongst others.
He admonished Ghanaians in the diaspora to partner Young Professionals Network for business collaborations and knowledge sharing.
Dr. Nadia Adongo Musah, also used the occasion to apprise them of President Akufo-Addo’s commitment towards passing the bill to allow dual citizens to hold key government positions.
On his part, Ghana’s Consular-General hopeful to Vancouver, Joseph Frimpong, encouraged all young professionals to join the initiative to promote their collective interest while leveraging on the capacities of their counterparts in Ghana and other countries.
