Some of the country's donor partners have begun disbursing funds that were held up as a result of concerns with government’s management of the economy.
The partners earlier this year pledged some 188 million dollars to Ghana but only 10 million have come in so far.
Joy Business has however gathered that the Swiss government as well as the World Bank is working to release their funds.
Sources say although the partners have concerns with the management of the economy, they are convinced about steps being taken by the government to addresses them.
Deputy Minister of Finance Kweku Rickets Hagan who confirmed this to Joy Business was however silent on names of the countries that are disbursing the funds.
“I had a meeting yesterday with one of the donors who told me, yes, they are [ready] to disburse but they are obviously waiting for a letter from us to disburse.”
He also indicated areas the funds would be advanced to. “Wage bill has basically clouded out funds for goods and services; so obviously some of these monies will come in good time to fill the gap for goods and services, and also for capital expenditure which mainly goes into infrastructure development.
The development should come as good news for Ghana especially at a time when government is having challenges with revenue mobilization.
