Joy News' Anass Sabit, has been adjudged the Most Promising Journalist of the Year at the Brong Ahafo Regional Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) Awards.
The awards held under the theme "Promoting Responsible Mining: the role of the media," was the first of its kind organised by the GJA in the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East regions.
It was aimed at giving hard-working journalists in the regions the opportunity to be recognised in their respective fields.
Mr Sabit filed three community stories which include the abandoned CHPS Compound at Agyina in the Kintampo South District, the poor water situation at Asuoti under the Nkoranza North District and the terrible nature of the Amoma road which is affecting Economic activities within the area.
The organisers among other things lauded Mr Sabit for visiting these areas most of the times on a motorbike despite the harsh conditions of the terrible road network, weather conditions and unavailability of telecommunication services in most of these areas.

The GJA President, Roland Affail Monney, called on the media community to be unafraid and unintimidated in line with carrying out their duties as journalists.
This comes at the back of recent attacks on media personalities across the country which is seen by many as a threat to media freedom.
It was aimed at giving hard-working journalists in the regions the opportunity to be recognised in their respective fields.
