The Information Minister has assured worker of PDS that their July and August 2019 salaries will be paid them despite the revocation of the licence of their employer.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Friday, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said, “the brief I have is that it should not affect the distribution of power and it should not affect people’s salaries.”
The government announced on Wednesday a suspension of the Concession Agreement between the Electricity Company of Ghana and Power Distribution Service (PDS), citing “fundamental and material breaches on the part of PDS.”
The development led to the freezing of all accounts belonging to PDS by the Financial Intelligence Centre, the Information Minister revealed.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah insists the development will not affect the salaries of workers of PDS who worked for the period of July and are working for the period of August.
According to him, both the Electricity Company of Ghana and Power Distribution Service are engaged with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that the needed resources are released for that purpose
“It is a very technical and sensitive exercise that is ongoing. We have no expectation that it will affect July and August salary,” he added.
