A communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Fred Agbenyo has clarified his recent admonition to government to tell Ghanaians the true state of the economy.
Below is the rejoinder
Dear Editor,
I appreciate the platform provided by your media house for us to disseminate party(NDC) and government information as well as the discussion of national issues.
I have noticed, with dismay, a story that you published on myjoyonline on Tuesday 22nd October,2013 attributed to me following a panel discussion in which i was involved in on your sister radio station, Asempa FM.
I wish to bring to your attention that your head line as stated above and some paragraphs attributed to me are very misleading and do not represent my views as expressed on the said program.
What I said was that ' GOVERNMENT WILL CONTINUE TO TELL THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUE STATE OF THE ECONOMY AS SERIOUSE ACTIONS AND DECISIONS ARE TAKEN TO ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES THAT CONFRONTS US'.
I also argued in that same discussion that this government is determine to move this country forward and hence would have to take some drastic decisions, some of which may have a toll on some members of the society.
I concluded that once we are able to carry the people along by communicating government programmes and actions, the people will give us the needed support.
I will, therefore, be very grateful if you could give this rejoinder the same prominence to help erase the wrong impression carried in your earlier publication.
Counting on your cooperation.
Fred Kwesi Agbenyo
