The Driver, Vehicle and License Authority (DVLA) has issued a total of 308 licenses, as at the third quarter of 2007, in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akim Oda, the District Licensing Officer, Mr Eugene Tawiah, attributed the increase to the rush by drivers to acquire the new license.
Mr Tawiah said the increase in numbers was encouraging, and that the educational campaign in which he was part of, explained to the commercial drivers and motorists in the district, on the importance and the need to renew their license.
He said the new license is recognised internationally,
and advised members of the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union to help in educating drivers on the importance of renewing their licenses.Source: GNA
