The Techiman Circuit Court presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi Kumah has sentenced a 22-year-old driver of Tuobodom near Techiman to 15 years' imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a pupil.Emmanuel Yaw Gyasi pleaded guilty to defiling a 15 year-old pupil of Takofiano Junior High School.Presenting the facts of the case, Police Inspector Ruth Oduraa said at about 2330 hours on November 29 this year the convict who was driving a Tico cab with registration number AS 5904 W bought iced water from the victim.
Inspector Oduraa said Gyasi asked the girl to accompany him to his home for money since he did not have any on him but as he drove towards Tuobodom he brought out his penis and asked the girl to fondle it.Inspector Oduraa said on reaching a teak plantation along the Tuobodom road, the convict stopped, dragged the girl out of the car and forcibly had sex with her.The Prosecutor said after the act, the convict gave the victim GH¢5.00 and drove her back to Takofiano in Techiman.Inspector Oduraa said on November 30 this year, the victim fell sick and when interrogated by her guardian she revealed her ordeal and the matter was reported to the police.Meanwhile, a medical report from the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman indicated the victim's hymen had broken.Source: GNA
