Theophilus Tetteh Padi who resides at Odumase Krobo, in the Eastern region, is fighting for a place for his family to lay their head after his house was demolished following a court order.
Following a land dispute between himself and two other people who claim the land had been sold to them by the Tetteh Padi family, Mr. Padi filed a suit at the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court in 2002 to restrain the supposed trespassers from encroaching on the land, since to him, no family member of his had ever sold any piece of land to them.
Mr. Padi said that he sensed foul play against him when the presiding judge ruled in favour of the defendants, Sanny Tawiah and John Kod-jiku.
He alleged that the interpreter and the defendants connived with the court’s registrar who succeeded in influencing the then judge, Mr. Alomatu to rule against him. A second judge who was brought in to replace Mr. Alomatu was also influenced by the interpreter to take sides with the defendants again.
The new judge, His Lordship Kwarteng on October 31st this year, then ordered his house to be demolished with the support of two armed policemen and some hired youth.
Mr. Padi has however appealed to the Chief Justice to ensure justice is served concerning the loss of his property, which stands at about ¢100 million. He has also expressed his wish to the Chief Justice to order the trial judge, the policemen who supervised the demolition of his house and the defendants to rebuild his house and additionally compensate him for all the grief caused him.
