A circuit court at Akyem Swedru on Friday sentenced Frimpong Felix, a mason to two years imprisonment for stealing a Nokia 6070 Mobile phone belonging to a teacher at Akyem Asuboa in the Birim South District.
Police Chief Inspector Alice Appiakorang, told the court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that on January 23, school pupils of the local primary school had assembled with the headmaster and the teachers including the complainant.
She said Felix who was walking towards the school compound diverted his way to the back of one of the classrooms where a mobile phone was ringing.
He quickly entered the room and removed the phone from its stand and went away.
The prosecutor said a pupil who was late to school saw the convict entering the classroom.
The pupil later told the teacher that it was Felix who stole the phone when he complained about the missing item after coming from the school parade.
Felix fled to Accra after committing the crime until November 29 when he resurfaced in the town and was arrested over a similar offence.
The prosecutor said he admitted the offence.
