Bright Sena Banini has been adjudged the winner of the maiden Future Fashion Fund in a keenly contested competition organized by Accra Mall Limited.
Out of five finalists who went through several evaluation stages, Banini, who operates under the brand name ‘Senabryte’ was declared the winner at the runway show organized to climax the Accra Mall Fashion Weekend (AMFW) on Saturday, 31st August.
The five finalists who were selected from over fifty applicants were taken through several evaluation stages including the submission of a business proposal, draping mannequins and finally showcasing their creative pieces on the runway at the fashion weekend using this year’s theme ‘the new old’.
Denise Asare, Marketing Manager of Accra Mall, outlined the prizes which the winner walked away with.
“The ultimate winner will receive a cash prize of $3,000, a pop-up stall at Accra Mall, a corporate bank account with Standard Chartered Bank, a feature at next year’s South Africa Fashion Week as well as gifts from Woodin, Pandora and Mr Price.”
Speaking after receiving his award, Senabryte expressed deep gratitude to Accra Mall for the honour done him.
“This is my dream and I want to thank Accra Mall so much for this opportunity; I still can’t believe this but I am so grateful. I also want to thank everyone who believed in me”, he said amidst shock and excitement.
David Neal Dodoo (Chip.O.Neal) was awarded second place, Augustina Ayinemi Avonsige (Avonsige) came in third while Mathias Dromo Mensah (Ablade Dromo) and Samara Addo Pomeye (Ekuaaddo) were awarded the fourth and fifth place respectively.
The judges for the maiden edition of the Future Fashion Fund were Aisha Ayensu, Creative Director of Christie Brown clothing, Kweku Boateng Akuoko, CEO of Brommon Bespoke, Delali Bentsi-Enchill, Ready to Wear Manager of Woodin and Denise Asare, Marketing Manager of Accra Mall.
The Future Fashion Fund is an extension of the Accra Mall Fashion Weekend (AMFW) which is an annual two-day fashion event which focuses on the fashion and beauty retail category.
This year’s event featured a Beauty Expo and a style talk in addition to the runway show. The run show also featured clothing, makeup and accessories from tenants of the mall.
The Accra Mall Future Fashion Fund was sponsored by Woodin, Dark and Lovely, Standard Chartered Bank and Black Opal Make up (distributed by Body Basics).
