Twelve babies, nine males and three females including a set of twins were born in two hospitals in Tamale on Christmas Day with one of them a stillbirth.
The Tamale Teaching Hospital alone recorded 10 deliveries including female set of twins and an unsuccessful caesarean section, which was a male stillbirth while the Tamale West Hospital recorded two male births.
Madam Zuwera Amadu, Senior Midwife on duty at the Labour Ward at the Tamale West Hospital told the GNA that the hospital recorded the first baby at 0230 hours while the second baby was received at 0356 hours.
Hajia Fati Mahama, Principal Midwifery of the Labour Ward of the Tamale Teaching Hospital told the GNA that the hospital recorded its first male baby through a caesarean section at midnight on Christmas Day but unfortunately it was a stillbirth.
The mother is however, in good condition.
She said the hospital recorded a set of female set of twins between 0317 and 0326 hours, while the rest were born between 0500 and 1030 hours as the time GNA left the hospital.
Hajia Mahama said the rest of the babies and their mothers were in good condition and used the occasion to wish all mothers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.Source: GNA
