Enterprise Trustees Limited has organised a one-day retirement planning workshop for its members in Takoradi at Raybow Hotel.
The workshop held in collaboration with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and other stakeholders aimed at educating members due for retirement.
The first part of the workshop focused on retirement Provision made by the National Pensions Act 2008 (Act 766), the role of the regulator - NPRA in the disbursement of retirement benefits as well as the process for accessing Tier 1 and 2 retirement benefits.
The second part of the workshop led by resource persons Dr Papa Nii Maale-Adsei and Mr John Mbroh took participants through Healthy Living and how to plan for life during retirement.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr Joseph Ampofo, Managing Director of Enterprise Trustees said the retirement planning workshop is part of holistic efforts towards ensuring the income security of members when they retire.
‘In 2020, formal sector workers who turn 60 years will begin to take their lump sum benefits from private corporate Trustees, at Enterprise Trustees we believe that beyond paying out retirement benefits, we need to also ensure that our members are adequately prepared for life after work and this is why we are bringing our members together to sensitize them.”
He urged clients to take advantage of the innovative platforms introduced by Enterprise Trustees such as the Enterprise Advantage App, The USSD Code *714*333# and the member online portal ‘The Stable’ to monitor and keep track of their pension contributions.
The National Pensions Regulatory Authority represented by Mr Stanley Ogoe, Zonal Coordinator for Takoradi and Mr Seth Sackey, Assistant Manager - Corporate Affairs, assured participants of various measures put in place by the Authority to safeguard the interest of all members and their retirement benefits.
Mrs Florence Asiedu Serebuour, the Branch Manager of SSNIT Takoradi Branch took participants through conditions for retirement benefits under the Tier 1 Scheme and the process for accessing their benefits.
A participant at the workshop, Mr Samuel Avaala Awonnea, General Manager of Benso Oil Palm Plantation, commended Enterprise Trusteed for the session and described the workshop as timely. He urged Enterprise Trustees to extend the workshop to all members in the scheme.
