Ghanaians have been urged to withstand temptations and foster love and unity to sustain the country's enviable record as a peaceful nation in the West African sub-region.
He said "Let us guide jealously our country's hard won image and build more bridges of peace so that the rest of Africa would continue emulate us."
Pastor Mathias Pelmiitey, District Pastor in charge of the Apostolic Church in Tamale, gave the advice at an all-night-service to usher in the New Year on Monday.
He appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind their leaders for national development to ensure that Ghana becomes a haven of tourist destination to generate more revenue to improve the economy.
Pastor Pelmiitey noted that troubles all over the world were partly as a result of jealousy and the pull-him-down attitude.
He asked Ghanaians to ensure the success of the 2008 Election and the African Cup of Nations, to be organised in the country this month. At the Winners Chapel International in Tamale, the Resident Pastor Francis Colendo joined the congregation in an all night service to usher in the New Year.
He said the year 2008 would bring peace, tranquillity and fulfilment to the nation and people who would trust in God.
Pastor Colendo said those who believed in God would not experience death, accident, sickness or any form of calamities.
